Did you know. . .

that the relationship between the thymus gland, which is part of our endocrine system and supports our immune system and the heart chakra are aligned at the physical, emotional and spiritual levels?  The chakra philosophy originated within the ancient yoga and Ayurvedic “medical” system of India.  Ayurveda translates to “The Science of Life” and is a whole person approach to health and well-being.  If you do an overlay of the endocrine system and the chakra system, you will notice that they are perfectly aligned.

What is the importance of the heart chakra?  According to tradition, the heart chakra speaks about the ability to love, to hope, to trust, to forgive and be compassionate.  It’s color is green and some identify the color pink (a color of peace) as well.  Some of the suggested physical imbalances that may occur are high blood pressure, asthma, breast cancer, allergies, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders and upper back challenges.  As this chakra is associated with the thymus gland a technique to help stimulate the gland and therefore our immunity, is to do the “thymus thump”.  Simply tap the middle of the sternum gently, but intentionally three times and repeat three times.  Some of the emotional imbalances associated with this chakra are resentment, difficulty accepting or giving love, insincerity, loneliness, commitment, love and hate, grief and anger.  Essential oils of Rose, Neroli, Melissa, Bergamot, Inula, Lavender, Black Pepper, Carrot Seed and Sage are all exceptional tools to use to assist your journey in relationship with this chakra.  Always remember that in the cycle of life we are at no time all of these traits, but a multitude of aspects both positive and negative in our endeavor towards acceptance and growth that can be found when we reach our own innate sense of balance and harmony within the realm of the heart chakra.
